Under Construction

Things are under construction here.

Everything seems to up in the air - literally and figuratively.

I keep waiting until I can batten down the hatches and get some good home time.

I've never thought of myself as a winter person but I'm actually looking forward to days when we are "trapped" inside together.

We are doing our best to keep the daily rhythm of our home someone orderly.  It seems nearly impossible lately.  I often think of my late grandmother and wonder how she did it all.  I wish I could talk to her about it.

We all decided to step away from the "plugged in" and the toys and work on staying close.  Phones are put away until after bed.  Each boy gets a small box for the week of toys.  Things are locked up.  The results of our first official "family meeting" - a proactive coming together with our wee little ones.

I just read this week an article that seems to be the very reminder of what we need.

"...am trying to walk away from the modern cultural belief that declares busyness, excess, and a full calender as the ultimate sign of success.  I am instead walking towards, in every day and every choice that I make, a life in which a connection to home, family, and place is what matters most of all. "  Amen.

  1. Any updates on the renovations? Well, I hope that everything went well. I know that home improvements can be a pain, especially when you are just starting. I do remember when we did some reno on the house. I was worried sick that everything will end up in a mess. But everything fell into places. Now, my home is as lovely as ever!
