Things are happening

Things are happening around here.

School is in the air.

Corn on the cob. I'm making an ABC's book for Logan to help with his speech.

Tea - super cool right now.

Painting with brothers or your lips:  whatever works at the moment

GUS the School's guinea pig will be going back soon.  Logan will be more than distraught.  Gus will thank the good Lord.

Mason - the verbal author of very detailed stories.  The kind where I am told the leave the room so he can set up his "scene" and then tell me the tale.

My oldest baby's first day of first grade.

a break

It was such a lovely week weather wise.  Such a break from the oppressive dry heat.  We got 2/10th of an inch of rain.  The most we've had since June.  The boys were so excited.  We all sat and watched the rain for the entire 10 minutes it came.  A nice little break to our evening.

With the break in weather, we didn't get a break in health.  All three came down with Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease.  Not fun to have or take care of.  Things like that always happen with Nathan is out of town.

We spent as much time as we could outside hoping the wonderful weather would get all the sickies away.  I'm sure it helped.

That and soup.  A family favorite.

And paints!

And catapults!

And breaking ice blocks to find treasure.

And finding sweet random acts of kindness tucked into your car.

And tomatoes.

And finishing a big knit for a special person.  That always makes one better.

around here

going through the motions of fevered boys on hot summer days

canning tomatoes and freezing sugar packed peaches and thinking about my grandma Kern and wondering how in the world she did it all

playing outside again!!! with a cooler spell (upper 80's) and beautiful mornings on the porch with tools in hand

finishing a long knitting project just in time for a 95 degree day and looking forward to layers again.

loving our youngest boy and his very laid back look on life.

(not the human one - SO not laid back)
