Yarn Along

Following Ginny's weekly Yarn Along over at Small Things...

I've been happily and slowly plugging away at my fall sweater only to run out of yarn so close to the end.  Because I've got to wait for more Shelter to come in, I decided that I'd better work on my Christmas knitting.  I decided this summer that I wasn't going to go crazy like I did last year. I'm really trying not to but I keep thinking about projects that I can do.  I took the time today to wind up yarn and see what I have.  I think leg warmers are in store.  Hats too.  Oh and a cowl or two (or three)

I was humbled when my friend asked me to make a hat for her to give as a gift so I've been knitting away on that.  It is such a cute little dead fish (if that isn't an oximoron) when it is finished and I hope it fits the recipient.  I'm going for a Parrot Fish look and just decided that the fins need to be orange.  It needs a little spunk.  I'll have to dye that up tomorrow and wait some more.

This weeks reading finds me in the middle of Austenland.  I'm enjoying the light read and it is moving nicely along.  It does make me self examine my own obsession with Pride and Prejudice though. Maybe that same friend as mentioned above recommended this book to me because she knows I might have a problem.

Sigh... Mr. Darcy.

  1. Christmas knitting...I have some cowls on my list too. I should really start. I have been drooling over the beekeeper's quilt and see you are making one. I really should start. Can't wait to see it when it's done!

  3. I have only 2 projects that I have committed to for Christmas knitting, but I keep thinking of more. A hat won't take long, and I could just make this quickly, and this, and this... I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself though!

Orange fins sound like they will go brilliantly with your fish hat colours :)

  7. Oh I don't know...I agree...sigh...Mr Darcy. It is so difficult to decide on patterns when there's so much to knit and not enough hands or time.

  8. I think the cowl is going to be "the" present to give this year. I have a few made already and a few more to go. I am doing all handmade this Christmas so I had to get started in October or I will be in the trenches like last year.

  10. Yes, sigh...Mr. Darcy. Every year I tell myself not to go crazy knitting for Christmas and then, as it approaches, I want to knit everyone something special. I am anxious to try Shelter so will watch your progress on the Fall Sweater you are knitting. The "oximoron" hat is an adorable pattern!

  12. They are such fun hats! Your colours are great too. I am currently working through the gift makes, but each time I tick one off, two more pop into my head!

  14. Yeah, I have that same obsession with Mr. Darcy and all things P & P, too.

Can't wait to see the 'dead fish'. A friend of mine made that hat for a Bad Santa swap and it was the hit of the party.
