Last Friday, Nathan asked the boys if they would like to go and help combine at Nanny and Pop's. I'm not sure why he thought he would even have to ask because the answer was a booming "YES"!
So we packed up for a night and day and headed to the family farm to get some John Deere action. There is something about large green machinery and boys. They practically salvated at the mere site of them.
We were lucky to have such beautiful weather too. Perfect for harvest!

This moment..
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. WIP Wednesday
Now that I've finished my last custom (for quite a while), I can really get cracking on this season's Tomten. Reagan picked the colors and design so I'm plugging along on it. I sure hope it fits like last year's did. That was perfect for him and he wore it all the time.
Also on some little needles are yet another pair of mitts. I really like making them. They used to scare me as I am not a fan of dpn's. This is my first time really using 9" circs. After I get my rhythm with them, they go pretty fast. DPNs seem not to agree with my day time grab and go knit a few stitches lifestyle. These are the Green Thumb pattern. It is knitting up nicely. I've had this yarn for about 4 years. It was supposed to be a vest of some sort but it just was too fussy looking for me. I think they'll be pretty. If I knit them again and I probably will (or some variation), the wrist portion's length is not long enough for me. I'd (I'll) add an inch or two.

Weekend Horse Show
This weekend, my boys (and mom) participated in a horse show held at the fair grounds not too far from here.
Reagan loves, I mean really, really loves horses - especially 'his' horse, Renegade. We all love him too. The perfect family horse. Perfectly quiet. Perfectly safe. Perfectly fun.
Mason decided he wanted to go too so he did the stick horse class. It is a silly class where all the little ones at the show get their trusted stick horse, hat, and boots and have a class in the show area. The music is played, the announcer tells them what to do, and they chase the ring master around while giggling uncontrolably. It is quite adorable. Of course the judge can not figure out who would actually win a class like this so they all get fancy blue ribbons and bags full of goodies.
Next Reagan and Renegade had lead-line. Such a cute class. The small kids dress up head to toe in proper gear and ride in a class lead by a handler. My mom get suckered into it as I wanted to take pics/video.
I put the video up on YouTube of his class. It is a long clip and full of my commentary to my middle child and my very unsteady hand! Sorry about that :)

Store Announcement
Well...if you made it to the bottom of my HC store page, you will have noticed that there is quite a lot listed and you are right, there is!
I've have come to the conclusion, after much thought, some tears, and a bit of prayer that I need to close my store, Tree Frog Knits. It has been a really hard decision but one that I am confident that is right for me and my family. With the change in our family- the new baby...the new job...I simply can not do it all anymore.
Little Logan was not in the plan at the time he came. He was always in my mind for the future but I wasn't sure when that really was going to be. And now that my dear husband is gone - a lot - with his new dream job, I'm left to be mommy and daddy and housekeeper and repairman and chauffeur and fixer of all woes that dyeing yarn late into the night/early morning on a weekly basis just does not make it onto my to do list anymore. Being a (slight) perfectionist with some things in life, it just wasn't working well for me. I do not want to be the mother I was having to be so I could get things done. I didn't want my kids to 'have' to watch a movie so I could count, dye, email, photograph, stir, wash, and reskein yarn. It just wasn't fair to anyone and in the end, not worth it to me anymore. I am looking forward to the extra time I'll have to spend doing all the things a mother needs to do and to continue to happily knit (and blog about it) every second I can spare! Hopefully with this extra time, I can start to work on all of the knit designs that are floating about my head and offer them at great prices and unlimited use.
So... I will be stocking what I've worked on over the months NOW and will be doing so until Dec. 1 when I officially close my 'doors'. Look for semi-custom slots coming soon too!
My dear sweet Sarah, who I love so much and has been my greatest friend, will still be providing the crafting world with her lovely yarns and knits. I'm not sure what she has decided to do yet with the store and I think neither has she. Whatever it is, it will be fabulous, beautiful, and full of class and grace.
If you are sweet and took the time to read all of these muddled thoughts, you get a prize! Use the coupon code: IJUSTLOVE2KNIT when you check out at Tree Frog Knits and receive 20% off your purchase. :) This is good until Friday, September 10.
