Hammer and Carrot

While surfing the web this week, I checked in at Alphabet Glue (and coincidentally Small Things) to find something for my Niblit to do.

One look at it and I knew I could make it work.

Add a hammer and nail to it, and we could be in business.

Here is how it went:

Yes, a hammer.  I got this.

Spread some peanut butter for the birds. "Tweet Tweet Jay Jay Jay"

...Angus notices there are pipe cleaners involved.  Pipe cleaners are his favorite.  He gets busy stalking said pipe cleaners.

...Wait.  I like peanut butter.  I like Carrots.  Forget those birds.

That was fun.  Now I get to wash all of that peanut butter off of me.

I shall pretend it was in my hair.

Really, I am just so funny.

This is great.  Mama thinks it is great too.  While I wash my dishes, my hair, and my arms, and maybe some other things, she gets to do stuff with fabric while I sing her Happy Birthday a thousand and one times.

We ended up making 4 bird feeders and hung them outside.  We had lots of birds all at once eating them including his favorite Bluejay.

In a pot

This afternoon the niblit and I went to the medium Mason's school to do a bit of dyeing.

I get the previlige of playing with kindergarteners and dye.  What fun!

We started off by planning our soon-to-be dyed skeins with watercolor paints in just the colors of red, yellow, blue, and green.  With these 4 paints, the children experimented in mixing colors (even though they have been studying this) and how their colors were going to be ordered.  Once it was their turn, they got to dye it up!  It was interesting to me which child followed their plan and which child didn't.

My child followed his plan.  I had to laugh at that since he is N O T that type of child.  I guess he has seen mama do this waaayy too many times!

By the 10th child, we were done and it was time to go.  I was pleased at the lack of mess and how well they turned out!  I'm excited for them to see.  Next we use the skeins for finger knitting and then onto needle knitting.

Completely unrelated to the above commentary on knitting, but I've found an awesome pizza crust.  Pizza crust is one of those things that I've failed at more times than I can count!  Last night we had a summer pesto and alfredo pizza and tonight was a bbq cowboy pizza.  Yes, the crust is that good!  Make it! <--link

finished

Well.  Hello there.

I've been getting "flack" about not keeping up on the happenings over here.

We've finished Christmas.  It was great.  It was long.  We are just now recovered.

We've finished our kitchen remodel.  I'm so happy that it is done.

I finished a sweater.  And almost knee socks.  Both a feat for me.

I've n o t finished a lot of things.

The littlest niblit of mine is not napping.  Not napping niblit makes for a long day for mama.  L o n g days.

We are getting by though.

Dressing in layers of wool and snow pants - off "hiking" (his new favorite word next to Happy Birthday) through the woods and trespassing where ever we feel we need to go.

I'll try and do better here.  I have ideas all the time but then the smallest one darts off through the brush like a rabbit and the chase is on.  Maybe tomorrow I say :)
